For anyone that has either played or went to see bands in nearby cities: what genres are popular in other Indiana, Michigan, or Ohio cities and what do you like/dislike about other areas in comparison to Fort Wayne?

Marion IN. doesn't have a scene, if it does it's kept secret.

Anderson IN. has a lot of cool bands doing cool things. Not many places to play.

Muncie IN. is a cool town to play. Doc's has a great stage and PA. Don't know if they are still open or not.

Bloomington is a cool collage scene, but that's about it.

Lafayette has a small but supportive atmosphere for local music.

Not a lot going on in Richmond.

Indy has a very diverse music scene, there's something for everyone.

Fort Wayne has THE best music scene in the state. I've never seen so much respect for different kinds of music, and musicians young and old. People are very supportive here...

I've heard from a very reputable source that Muncie's music scene absolutely sucks and that all the bands there are uppity college pricks.

I tried to break into the munciescene.com message boards and they were pretty uppity about new people in there... so I can imagine this statement to be true.
