i am relatively new to the area, but am trying to possibly organize a M.S. Society benefit show for the fort wayne area in august or september. my step mother suffers from M.S., and i just found out how much the different medicines cost per month. while she can afford it, i'm sure there are many people who cannot, so her and i have talked about putting together a show to help out. i am just starting band and have talked to another band that said they are interested. we would like to have bands of different genres perform probably 45 minute sets. we have'nt found a venue yet, but we wanted to gauge inerest from local bands first. we are thinking either here in auburn, or maybe at an all ages club in fort wayne. if any of you are interested in playing, helping organize, or just have helpful suggestions please post here or send me a pm. from what i've seen, heard, and the little i've expeienced the fort wayne music scene seems like a big family, so i figured we could all come together and help the cause. thanks alot.

This is fine, just once the show is organize throw up a thread in the Talk About a Show Forum. If it is well together we may make it a sticky as well since it is a benefit.

I think North River Agents would be hip to play this. Get us a date and I'll make sure we're all available.

Get a date, let us know, and I know that The 1947 California Cupcake Company would be down for the benefit.

We tried organizing a benefit this past spring but it fell through. Venues can be tough to come by. If you find one, we'd be delighted to play.

I help to manage a band called Church of the Week that would love to play. Let me know the date, more info, and if you're still in need of bands.

I would play this (I do solo folk/acoustic, sometimes a duo - would have to ask my partner). I have also worked and helped with lots of these benefits. We've had some good luck with outdoor events in the summer time, but you have to be careful not to compete with a big drawing tent downtown. I've done a couple of autism benefit events in Lawton park. Takes a little coordination and some volunteers working the ground but it worked well.

ok, here goes. the ms benefit show is on. saturday, september 16th at the eastside park in garrett, across from the high school. we are shooting for 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. so there is plenty of time to squeeze in quite a few bands. if you are interested please pm me. i am trying to fill this up as soon as possible, so we can move on to other issues. i'm thinking 30 minute sets, and a booth for the bands to meet and greet and hawk merchandise. if you are interested in playing, volunteering your time, or have any helpful suggestions, please pm me and i'll get right back to you. looking back at all of you who said you'd be interested in playing, i think this can really be a fun day where we get the word out about ms and the fantastic local music scene!
