Began discussing this painting at length with a co-worker and came to the conclusion that really, Obi-Wan should be in the center 'Jesus' seat. He dies for the good of his cause and then rises again to guide young Luke through the final two movies. Luke really fulfills more the role of Paul in the Star Wars/Bible analogy. He goes out and spreads the force to the people (especially if you've checked out any of the New Jedi Order stuff.) He is much like Paul spreading the gospel after Jesus died. The Christian Church was founded by Paul. The New Jedi Order was founded by Luke. I'm not sure where some of the other characters belong (if Obi-Wan is Jesus, then who is Mary Magdalene?) but maybe this can start the discussion.

Or am I the only one with the time to completely over-analyze this stuff?

Naw. . . .

I noticed that Episode 3 was a metaphor of the Garden of Eden story. Satan tempted Eve to the 'dark side' by claiming she wouldn't die; but would receive special knowledge of good and evil that God was witholding. The Emperor told Anakin that he had a way to save Amidala from dying, and had special knowledge about both sides of the Force that the Jedi were witholding.

Using such a metaphor isn't really copying; it just makes for good storytelling.

Anyone been to the Dragon's Keep Cafe on Lower Huntington? They've got a Last Supper remake set in their Cafe with everyone drinking coffee and eating doughnuts. There's even a little diner waitress taking orders, it's pretty sweet looking.
