Why I choose to be a jackass

Post by Oliver's Army »

I pondered the question on why I feel as if I need to be a jackass and I would like to address this.

Entitlement.

Just because you own a keyboard does not always mean that you are capable of a coherent thought. People these days think the world owes them something and they are not willing to do what it takes to earn it.

You want respect? Great. We all do. But until the world thinks you deserve it, you aint getting squat. That comes with time and performance. People on here that know me know exactly who I am, and what my personality is like. I have made many friends on here being exactly that. I am not about to change this because someone demands that I do.

I have been existing in this world long enough to not have some kid, whose probably younger than most of my concert t-shirts, telling me how it’s going to be.

If you post inane B.S. on here you have got to expect some good-natured ribbing from the regulars. We all do it and we all get it. It’s the nature of the Internet forum. Your ability to give and take will determine what people think about you and how you deal with life. You call someone an butthead in one post and then get pissed when people won’t help you with advice in another.

Flapjacks is a good example of this. He’s a cool kid that has taken his share of crap slinging, but he comes back with a smile and a jab of his own. He doesn’t call people Nazi’s, he doesn’t whine and hate…he gets it, and has survived it all just fine and made friends while doing it.

Ignorant laziness

You’re looking for members for your band? Great. This is a perfect place for that
But if you cannot for even the simplest sentences that are composed of *actual* words no one is even going give you a second thought. Those who DEMAND professional players but cannot comprehend how to form a complete sentence especially amuse me.

I don’t consider myself a grammar expert, but damn, it shouldn’t be like reading a freaking word jumble to get the gist of your post. Either do potential future members of your band…they think you’re an idiot too. The inevitable follow up posts condemning this city and this site for not getting prompt and numerous replies make it all that much more amusing. Save the l33t speak for your buddies or phone texts.

Free speech

Means nothing in this forum. It’s not about your ‘rights’ to spew bile and bullcrap. It’s not about censoring your opinion and it’s not about preventing you from achieving your goals.

It’s about a privately owned forum that you were granted permission to join. Its about setting a level of Moderation that wont allow violence, false accusations, lies and deceit. It won’t tolerate ranting just to inflame and it won’t allow pointless BS

Trust me, I have been notified more than once.

I am no longer a Moderator of this forum, and I don’t give a rats butt if you like me or not. But don’t be surprised that when you do or say something stupid, if I point my finger and post “that was stupidâ€

You're stupid! (and of course, correct on this matter).

I don't anyone on here is or is claiming to be a grammar expert, but the l33t talk is hard for us "old folks" (at 36, do I now fall into that category?) to concept since it doesn't take that much more time to write elite as opposed to l33t.

Remember who your audience is, and make sure they understand your message. Otherwise, you might as well be speaking Mandarin...

Almost having a minor in English, I am claiming it. I still truck up all the time, anyway. Despite my high standards and expertise, I make mistakes, but they're honest ones and not ignorant or apathetic ones.

Good Post Ollie! I hadn't read this when I posted my response, but I'm glad to see you get it and I hope you enjoyed your new set of "warnings."

Love,

Garr

Have always enjoyed Ollie's "sarcasm" & "Irony" posts.

Adds much needed spice to sometimes dreary postings.
